UBA to Host “Vision 20/20” Presentation and Professional
Mixer
ATLANTA, April 8, 2009 – The United Brothers of America (UBA) is set to launch its “Vision 20/20” Framework with a professional mixer on Saturday, May 9, 2009. The UBA is a non-profit advocacy group for the advancement of the young black male. It is their goal to address and change 20 key issues effecting this demographic within the span of 20 years through progressive action via its online Volunteer Network Community (VNC) and Learning Management System (LMS).
UBA creator, Louis McNeil, believes that with the changing face of leadership in our country there is a new found sense of responsibility to take advantage of resources to help young black males in America. Mr. McNeil sees these changing times in our country as an opportunity to “harness the collective efforts and energy of everyone that’s interested in participating in order to make some real measurable changes during this special time in history. We all will be remiss if we squander the opportunity change the plight of young black males in America.”
With their mission to “become a leading advocacy group and catalyst to assimilating young black males into a more accepting society…” the UBA utilizes a number of tools to effectively manage their initiatives. Each of the 20 key issues is overseen by a Domain Steering Committee (DSC) tasked with creating and advocating educational programs concerning that issue. The UBA also employs a volunteer networking community akin to that of the popular social networking site Facebook, in order to facilitate interaction amongst youth, students and professionals. DSC members acquire, learning objectives, which are domain specific courses from content providers, which allow trainers to create curriculums that are specific to the needs of the young black males being trained. All educational programs are facilitated in local schools, churches and community centers or via Computer Based Training (CBT).
The mixer, along with a presentation on how individuals can help the UBA strive
to meet their organizational goals, will take place at the Georgia Tech Research
Institute GTRI Conference Center, 250 14th Street, NW, Atlanta, GA 30318 from
4 PM to 7 PM. If you are interested in learning more about the UBA and how you
can contribute to their mission please register at: www.unitedbrothers.org
